Freedom to Care

you’re not on your own

We offer circles to help reduce the stress caused by the dramatic shift in public
policy and opinion since 2020. We want to foster resilience and to inspire a vision for a way forward. The circles are facilitated, confidential and free of charge.

What is “Freedom to care” about?

We are living in challenging times. There are restrictions everywhere, especially on travel, socialising, and work. Those of us that have not fulfilled the ever-changing medical requirements, or sympathise with people’s right to choose, experience ridicule and bullying by media and even by managers, family, and friends. We are being ostracised by the very society we are so used to being a natural part of. For many of us, this has triggered grief, fear, anger, conflict, and confusion as well as worry and care about family, friends, and the bigger picture.

  • How can we deal with this heavy load?
  • How can we look after ourselves in the current situation?
  • How can we find a place of inspiration so that we can contribute in a positive way?

We can start by being there for each other, coming together in non-judgmental circles of mutual support. Sharing with other people, both highs and lows, is maybe the most powerful way to feel a sense of meaning and joy in life. And, at a time when many of us get heavy pushback for expressing our truth, it can be such a relief to meet up with other people who are on the same page – willing and able to listen to what we have to say.

We hope these circles will spread far and wide and reach many people. If you want to lead a
circle yourself, you can download the facilitator manual here.

How I created this process?

Freedom to Care Circles

I have participated in many sharing circles throughout my life where people express authentically what is going on while the rest of the circle listens without judgement. It is a great tool. However, I sometimes found these circles spiralling down into complaining circles. Now, don’t get me wrong – I think it is essential to have a place to complain when things are rough. That is so much better than sitting alone with a heavy load! But I was also missing a lift into encouraging perspectives and support. How can we move on in a good way?

On the other hand, I have participated in spiritual and inspirational circles (satsang) where the focus was on staying positive. They would take me high, but I often had a sense of not being fully grounded in reality, not being fully authentic. By insisting on being positive, so-called negative aspects of life were being ignored.

Now, how to meet in a way that is both authentic and inspiring? I decided to put together a process that includes both types of circles with a meditation as a bridge.

– Share what is going on authentically, especially emotionally.

– Meditation to find acceptance and peace.

– Talk about an inspirational theme – like, what can be done.

Our experience so far is overwhelmingly positive. It has been deeply moving and rewarding to both participate and facilitate these circles. If you feel inspired to facilitate a circle yourself, we suggest you participate in one first and then invite your contacts to join yours. I give this process away for free on the condition that it is not used for profit. I provide a manual for facilitators as well as a manual for participants that you can download for free.

If you want to share this process in your own language, please let us know and share the translation of the manuals with us so we can share them on this page. If you want to get involved in organising or helping out with administrative tasks, please contact us.

Eight of us met for two hours on a Saturday from seven countries to share our experiences of our current situation. With deep listening interspersed with meditation we shared our personal stories about how we are coping through this totally unexpected new life we are enmeshed in.  For me, this was profoundly impactful as each had a different level of interference to cope with and unknown threatening futures to navigate. As the time progressed we became more familiar to each other and support and empathy infused the group and I personally felt really listened to with no judgement but with respect for my human rights to express my reality. This is a very valuable emotional support hopefully to be repeated many times. My great thanks to the organisers.

A very special and valuable experience. Truly helped me connect on an authentic level with members of what feels like could be others from a global tribe I knew had to be out there but had never met.

As “friends” fall silent, withdraw contact or become hostile, it has been such a relief to participate in this Circle and hear the stories from others around the world who have also questioned and resisted the mainstream Narrative and Dogma. I feel part of a community of inspiring people who are prepared to listen without judging and “correcting misinformation”, instead just accepting me and validating my right to voice my reality, my fears and vulnerabilities. Thank you for holding this space for us.

"

We live in a world which is becoming increasingly polarized, and in which it is easy to feel isolated and alone as a result. The Freedom to Care Circle offered me an important, confidential and safe space in which I could hear, be heard, and most importantly open my heart to others who are seeking human connection not division.

"

I attended two freedom to care circles held by Vasu Dev. Although each one was different, different people participated, – each had a similar result on me- equal parts outrage, comfort, joy, anger…Outrage and anger at hearing how some of us are treated. Comfort and joy at hearing people say, “This is who I am. I am not changing to please anyone.” I strongly encourage anyone who is considering it, to join a circle. It is a way to know you are not alone. To meet people from all over the world who feel similar to how you do. To make friends. To connect. It is so uplifting, that if I had the opportunity, I would be in one, once every week.

How it all started

What can we do to help?

Jem Bendell and I Vasudev, were having one of our conversations about the state of affairs in the world. This time we left the politics aside and concerned ourselves with the mental strain and stress many people are suffering from – from the constant propaganda, peer pressure, bullying and concrete restrictions and requirements to coerce people into taking the experimental medical procedure – in short, medical aggression.
Jem asked: “What can we do to help?” We both have family members who have been socially isolated because they have refused the jab. We came up with the idea of creating some sort of support circles. Jem encouraged me to create a structure, write a manual, and try it out. I did, and the response was overwhelming.

Seeing that it was working, Jem invited Darinka to the party, and then things really started to happen! She translated the process into Italian and started circles for Italians with massive response. She is also the one who put this website together so that this process can be shared with more people. If you are feeling the call, please go ahead and start your own circle. You can download both the facilitator manual and the participant manual on here. If you translate the manuals into other languages, please send us a copy so we can share it on
this webpage.

Hello

I’m Darinka

Darinka walked over 3000 km from Sicily to her home in the North of Italy, without money, collecting people’s dreams and gave an emotional Ted Talk about her journey. Since then she wrote 2 best selling adventure novels and was attempting a “round the world- 0 emission tour” when the pandemic hit. After having successfully crossed 2 continents by bicycle and one ocean on a sailing boat, she found herself “stuck” in Bali and due to travel restrictions she made the Island of God her new home.  During her ongoing time of stillness she published #ASCOLTA (#listen), a short film that took the world by storm at the beginning of the pandemic and wrote her latest book about her new found ways to travel inwards.

The name of these circles and the website is “Freedom to care.” The phrase comes from a line in Jem’s song “Love and rage” which celebrates the various uprisings around the world as people resist authoritarianism.
